T’was the back side of November
A perfectly normal night,
Then a brisk wind kicked up
A gale that wasn’t right.
So quickly it happened
It packed a serious clout.
Totally unexpected !
Then the power went out.
So the evening wore on .
Candles grew long in the tooth.
Sans electricity,
We needed a power sleuth .
Thank goodness for the linemen,
Already on their way.
It’ll be fixed by midnight.
At least that’s what they say.
It’s a nasty night to work,
Too damned dark to even see.
Thanks to linemen, one and all.
I’m just glad they’re not me !
