Crescent Moon

By Pete Tucker

Tonight the moon is but a sliver,
Slim as man has ever seen.
The faintest slice of moon cheese
Can’t tell if it’s even green.

The question is thusly prompted,
If, tonight was the lunar landing.
Is one small step for man enough?
Is there even room  for standing?

Mission Control has considered this.
Tonight the moon will be a slice.
If the landing was to be tonight,
It would have to be concise.

They have to think about this stuff.
It’s all part of rocket science.
There’s a ton of moving parts
That must be in compliance.

But that moon keeps changing sizes.
One night half, the next one full.
If my lunar mind didn’t know better,
I’d think that it was bull!
