Call it luxurious or just call it livin’ right,
At the hearth we’re burning Black Walnut tonight.
Call it ostentatious or something else profound .
Fact is when I was sawing, it lay there on the ground.
It wasn’t quite furniture grade,
So the decision I promptly made.
I’d saw it for firewood.
For that it’ll make the grade.
An old timer happened by,
Propped his boots by the fire.
“Lord have mercy,” he said .
“Is that Walnut there, glowin’ red?”
Such luxury I’d nearly forgotten.
You must be livin’ in tall cotton!
